YOU and ME and HER - HEART to HEART [Piano Tutorial]
Catching up on some older stuff I've never released on this channel. I made this one back in the ancient years of 2020 for Pixel Mixer's Zelda album. I took a psychedelic Glitch Hop-inspired approach to this one, trying to convey with music the idea of mixing a bunch of unusual ingredients together (like a potion). Definitely very different from a lot of stuff I've made before, but I had a lot of fun with it! Hope you'll go check out the full completely free album below! It's a good'n with tons of talented people on it! The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Potion Shop (Psychedelic Brew Mix)
Probably my single most requested tutorial I've ever had on the channel! This is a long time coming, so to make up for the wait, I decided to make a 4-in-1 tutorial video! I thought this would be especially useful since the more accurate solo version is quite difficult; I actually still have not gotten this one down myself, and not through a lack of trying. Suffice to say that this is not me playing; this one is just MIDI. I still don't have an ideal setup for recording piano yet. I'm also dealing with arm pains again, so practicing has been a bit tough, especially with a piece like this. I do want to do a performance version of this eventually, but I also didn't want to keep people waiting any longer, with how requested it is. Still, I tried to get a bit creative with the presentation, so I hope you all like the extra details! Also, I'm really excited to be using a new program for the visualization. I've switched from Synthesia to SeeMusic, which is way more customizable and can export right from the software, so no more stuttering! (Not sponsored, just really impressed with this program). Save and Load (セーブとロード) Composed by Hirata Hironobu From YOU and Me and HER (Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi) developed by Nitroplus ------------------ ~TIMESTAMPS & NOTES~ 0:04 Easy - Stripped down to the bare bones of the piece. To keep it a bit more interesting, I threw in some pattern ideas for the left hand, but feel free to experiment and add your own flavor. Both sections can be made even easier with just block chords or the bass notes alone. 1:09 Medium - Closer to the original. Section B Left Hand is still pretty involved, but avoids the large leaps between the low bass notes and the rest of the arpeggio. 2:12 Hard - Lots of part juggling and wide jumps in this one, especially during the B Section. Right hand helps out with some of the lower half, but I also had to consider how to balance that with the upper melody. If you're up for the challenge, you may find an easier way to play this one; consider my approach a suggestion to spring off! 3:14 Duet - I don't think I've ever done this before, but I thought it'd be a fun extra. This is the closest version to the original, including the separate upper melody which can be played on your second instrument of choice. To avoid visual overlap with the piano, the upper notes are written 2 octaves higher than they are actually played. Might consider doing tutorials like this that aren't exclusively solo piano in the future, if there is interest! ------------------ Thanks everyone for their patience in getting this one out, and I hope you enjoy this slightly experimental approach to my usual tutorials! I love how airy and sad this one is. Feel free to give each phrase in the first half as much space as you desire. The original ends / loops at 1:41, but I decided to add an optional expanded section with a real ending to it. I've always loved the slow, melancholy pacing of this one. Great song for those starting out, too! 2:23 Not much to note for this piece, except that the final chord can be rolled as slow as necessary so the pinky can jump to that upper "D" note. [Sheet Music] https://musescore.com/user/23100251/scores/26238508 https://papercoelacanth.com/covers-sheet-music/ Short cover to get back into the swing of things. Another one from the free indie classic Knytt Stories! Always loved how spooky this one is. (Also just found out yesterday, after uploading, that this is the same composer who did the music for Stray!) Notes: 0:06 Intro can be played staccato for a poppier opening. 0:24 Be sure to roll these chords ahead of (and land on) the beat to get that floaty feel. 0:52 Outro can also be played with two hands if desired. [Sheet Music] https://musescore.com/user/23100251/scores/26237197 https://papercoelacanth.com/covers-sheet-music/ Reminiscences - The DL-6 Incident Composed by Masakazu Sugimori Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney "A memory... of a murder." Another classic Reminiscence theme, from one of the best trials in the series, IMO. Love this case, its wild twists, and Edgeworth's character development into one of the coolest characters in the series. (Poor guy...) I love the melodies in this theme, especially in the B sections; really captures the tragedy and trauma of the incident. To get back into the swing of things, here's a simple one from an indie title I liked a lot last year!
